Recent Artwork

Both Bobbie Kitchens and Rick Van Dyke worked together to create many of the images seen here .

Bobbie is primarily the art director and stylist behind the basic concepts . Rick has more technical expertise in studio equipment and lighting. After the photos are taken, Bobbie chooses the best images for the final artwork. She then scans the Photo and works on the final artwork with the aid of Photoshop. These particular images were shot prior to a photo shoot of Elvira as a test.

The images are printed digitally on thick acid free paper, it has a surface that looks like velour.

The inks used are made of platinum, this fine art preservation series by Lumijet, promises long term stability of 60 to 70 years.

Unlike standard inks used in printers. The blacks are rich and unlike the flat surface of the Iris print, has far more depth than any prints I've seen so far. The size of the entire print is 17 x 22 inches. The edges are torn to create that deco edge.

The prints are available in small editions of only 25. The Elvira images are in editions of 50.

There are some artist's proofs, one of a kind, available as well.

There were 26 live snakes crawling through Elviras hair

which was part of the reason this shot took three hours to shoot.

The contest is an international showchase of the best photography in the world.

Literally thousands of enteries and only a few winners are pulished in

the Graphis book that comes out each year.
